General Information
On November 17, 2015 Robinson announced that it will debut a new two seat R44 model in 2016. The R44 Cadet is based on the R44 Raven I platform with the same Lycoming O-540-F1B5 engine. The max gross weight will be 2200 lbs and the engine has been derated to 210 HP takeoff with 185 HP continuous (the Raven I has a max gross weight of 2400 lbs and 225 HP takeoff with 205 HP continuous). In addition, RHC has removed the two rear seats and converted the aft compartment for cargo. The Cadet also features a newly designed muffler system which should reduce flyover noise by more than three decibels.
Available options will include air conditioning, autopilot, and avionics packages for VFR or IFR training.
RHC expects final flight tests before the end of 2015 and pricing announced before March, 2016. The base price will be lower than the Raven I.
